How to Float

Our sensory deprivation tanks (isolation tanks) will take care of all the work, go in without expectations and let the silky solution of dissolved Epsom salts comfortably relax your body & mind.

Before you float
  • 1First create an account online and book your float. We are also happy to assist you by phone (604-433-5628) or at our location.
  • 2Show up at least 10 minutes early prior to your float. Check in & be briefed by our helpful staff.
  • 3Shower & Float! Enjoy.

Eat a small light meal 1.5 hours prior to floating. You’re aiming for a medium between a full and empty stomach.

Don’t shave 12 hours before floating. The Epsom salts can sting sensitive skin and be distracting.

Stay hydrated! Drinking water to prevent dehydration is basic but important, even for floating.

Avoiding caffeine before slipping into a float is highly recommended. Skipping coffee and smoking will pay off in the tank.

Be sure to use the washroom prior to showering before you float.

If you are looking for extra preparation – we have found performing physical activity (yoga, cardio, or resistance training) before you float can greatly enhance your floating experience.

If you’ve recently dyed your hair, you must wait a week before you float as the dye has an effect on the water.

We recommend waiting 2 weeks after getting a tattoo before you float to avoid any discomfort from the salt water.

During the Float
  • 4Soft music will turn on to notify you the float has ended. Rinse off the Epsom salts, get changed and meet us to for some complimentary tea.
  • 5Sit, reflect, relax and enjoy your post-float glow with us.

Allow yourself to thoroughly disconnect from any past thoughts and be in the moment. You deserve this peaceful break from any attachments to the external world. Accept the gift of time taken for yourself to relax, recover, recharge and grow.

Use your breath as a tool to relax your body and calm your mind. Try to breathe primarily from your nose. At first you can consciously take deep breaths, but once you settle into your experience try less to manipulate your breathing and instead just observe it.

The two positions in the tank are either both arms at your side or arms over-head. Try both, pick one and get comfortable. Next, to stop from moving side to side – press your arms and legs against the sides of the tank to position your torso in the middle. When your settled, gently relax your limbs back to your body and float.

Now with no reason to focus on your body, your mind can be at peace. Just be present, a sense of calmness will take over, let go and enjoy your experience.

Remaining physically still has value while floating. The combination of relaxation and stillness triggers a state of healing.

While experiencing sensory deprivation there is no reason to focus on your body, your mind can be at peace. Just be present, a sense of calmness will take over, let go and enjoy your experience.
